From work-trade media production classes, to free studio space with professional equipment, Capital Community Media (CC:Media) has the resources you need to bring your creativity to life. If you want to tell your story and build your skills, you belong here.
The first step is to take an orientation class, currently held in person the first Thursday of each month. If you are interested in joining the next Orientation class, fill out the “Sign Up For Orientation” form below.
To register for all other classes, call us at 503-588-2288. Orientation and classes are available for anyone to take, however only Salem residents are eligible to use our equipment at no cost. Individuals living outside CC:Media’s service area are eligible to use equipment and channels for an annual fee of $150.
Orientation
Are you looking for a creative outlet? Do you have a story to tell? Want to get your hands on video production equipment? CC:Media is here to help you turn your creative ideas into a reality through video. Join us for orientation, where you’ll learn about all the resources that are free to Salem residents.
As long as you are not promoting a commercial product or business or asking for money, you can make programs about whatever YOU want!
Note: Orientation is a required first step before using CC:Media’s equipment and channels.

Introduction to Camera
Learn how to operate CC:Media’s checkout HD camcorders. Covers basic shooting practices, tripod use, and more.
Cost: $35
Prerequisite: Orientation

Editing
Learn how to use many of the basic features of Final Cut Pro X and get started on editing your first program.
Cost: $35
Prerequisite: Orientation
(Camera recommended but not required)

Studio Production
Learn to operate studio cameras, mix audio, direct,
create graphics, light a set, much more.
Cost: $35
Prerequisite: Orientation
One day, about 2 hours

Studio classes are currently being held in person as this is a hands on lesson on all things needed to produce a program on site.

Laptop Checkout Certification
Edit at home using one of CC:Media’s checkout laptops!
Meet with our Community Facilitator to get certified and
make sure that you’re capable of operating the
laptop independently.
